I dont understand what is wrong, yesturday the inbox was fine, today when i try to access my p1's inbox i get the message saying:

Title: "Information"
Msg: "Not found"

I have rebooted the phone, but still it is not working, i can recieve messages (sent 2 message to my phone) and i can read them, but i cannot access the inbox.

Anyone got any idea on how to solve this?

I'll also add that i can view my sent, outbox and drafts. Only the inbox is not working. In addition, if i select more, then find messages, and select a contacts name whose message is stored i can view all their messages. So it means that the messages are not deleted. But for some reason i just cant view the inbox.

To add more insult to injury, i can view the messsages if i sort them in any other way other than date, so i think the inbox view by date file may be corrupt....

This is really annoying me now...

Sounds like a corrupt folder, what happens if you try to backup then retore your messages with the pcsuite?

If that doesn't work, then I'm afraid you might have to format the internal disk to reset the file system.

i have a feeling it may be a file that is saved to the messages which is causing this problem. Because if i order the messages via sender, i can scroll through all the messages without problem. When i come to "Sl" in the senders list it automatically comes up with not found.

The only thing that can be stored in the messages with that is the version of slick i uploaded to my phone this morning. I'll try and connect via the pc suite see what happens.

Yes i think the slick sis which is saved in teh messages is the problem, i sorted the messages by type and scrolled to all but the last entry (slick's sis) and as soon as i move the job wheel down one notch to highlight that entry it comes up "not found" and then shoots me to the top of my messages.

Can you delete a message without accessing it?

ok it wasn't the slick sis, as i deleted that. But the message count is still showing one unread message, i will try the backup and restore now see what happens.

K well i backed up and this is what the report said:

Backup
Name: messages
Date: 02/04/2008 17:55:04
Type: Partial backup
Size: 27654127 bytes

Mobile Phone
IMEI:
Model: P1i
Name: P1i

Unified inbox

Backup Status
Successful with 1 remark(s).

Remarks
Unified inbox:
1000484b - Failed to read archive.

Anyone know what the remark means?

I restored the backup i made, to no avail. I can access the inbox now, but the corrupt archive still seems to be present, it shows up as one unread message, and there is no way of unreading it.

In as far as formatting the internal disk goes, will that cause me to loose all my information? Is there anyway to back up my information before i format it (i assume the pcsuite)?

ok, just a little update before i log off.

I deleted all my messages from my inbox, nothing major thankfully . But the corrupt archive did not get deleted, it cannot be seen in the inbox either.

At the moment, since the inbox is working, and i can view files, recieve messages it is not a dire situation. But the fact that i cannot unread this file is bugging me as i always have one unread message, but the icon on the status bar is not showing...odd.

By the looks of things, formatting the internal disk might be the only option to get things right i guess...and by that i assume master reset because i couldn't find format internal disk in the menus.

Since this will be my first master reset any tips, ideally i want to preserve all my files (ringtones and such i can get from the memory card no problem), but how about installed applications, and also my calendar entries, phone book etc...
I assume that the pcsuite backup will sort all of that out, but if someone can confirm that would be great.

Thanks.

..apart from failing to read anything the backup was supposed to take a backup of - it was successful. lol.

lol, well currently going to do a master reset i think that is the only way to solve this issue, but before i do so i'm backing up everything with the pcsuite so hopefully when it restores everything all the details (calender entries, phone book) should be back to the way it was right?

Yep, in theory it will be so, though personally I sync all that stuff to outlook to be sure - you can also backup your calender to the memory stick with the built in calender manager.

Have you tried filing all the valid mesages to a new folder so they're not 'unfiled' - you might be able to successfuly back them up with the pcsuite then.

hehe, well the pcsuite did backup everything i asked it to, i took out the memory card for assurance and all my programs still work yay!

calendar and contacts and the likes were all fine and worked nicely with the backup and restore of the pcsuite.

I dont use outlook too much so i didn't really know about backing up contacts and calendar entries there, will have a read about it could save a lot of problems in the future.

Anyways the problem seems to have vanished. I assume a message or file sent to the phone was corrupt and a master reset sorted the problem. My only issue is i dont have my themes on the phone, but that isn't a major problem.

Guess this topic can be locked now.
Thanks for the help
