> K800i NO bluetooth Com Ports
Bookmark topic
when I paired up my K800i to my PC it didn't add any com ports for either incoming or outgoing. But when I paired up the wifes £20 Fly E399 it add 2 out going and 1 incoming. As a result of no com ports on my K800i I cannot use things like MyPhoneExplorer via bluetooth. Anybody got a solution to this. This is using the standard XP SP2 BlueTooth stack.

So the PC couldn't find the K800i then?
Is K800i set to discoverable?
Is the battery charged?
Have you tried USB connection in the interim?

The PC paired with the K800i But didn't install ANY com ports so I can send and receive files through bluetooth but not use any managing software like my phone explorer.

try re-discovering the port via MyPhoneExplorer.... go to files, options... tell the program to "search for device".... if I remember correctly that is....

^^^ as above.
If the phone has paired sucessfully then you must have COM Ports allocated to it.

Find bluetooth options in control panel on your pc. There ir an option to add your phone as a COM port...

You can't just add com ports if the device (K800i) dosn't show it's supporting them.
here's what my bluetooth settings pages look like
and here's what happens if I try and add a com port
I had this problem a while ago and since then I have reinstalled windows, updated firmware to R8BF003 AND got a new Blutooth V2 EDR dongle. I had thought it was just my PC and bluetooth, but since trying my wifes £20 Fly SL399E which added the CORRECT com ports when paired I now KNOW it's the phone as I've tried it on 3 different PC's.

Have you installed all the drivers from the CD that came with the phone?
That's all I can think of... if you still have issues try
Cycovision's pc help thread
EDIT: I seem to have the same problem with Windows unable to find my phone dispite it being already connected. I've recently upgraded my BT adapter to a Version 2.0 + EDR which is managed by Blue Soliel software not my XP SP2 drivers. My Blue Soliel software has details of which COM Ports the phone is using and it all works fine with MPE. Its only Windows which is confused...

the drivers are installed as I can connect the phone and ANY program via USB. This is K800i specific as I have now tried most of the phone in the house and my son's Nikia N95 added the ports OK, my duaghter Samsung G600 added the ports ok, My wifes Fly added the ports ok, My other daughters Sgam MY500c added the ports OK. And the odd one out id the K800i which refuses to add ANY com ports (incoming or outgoing ports) when paired up.
