Nice find!

Just a word of caution though, pre-caching files can indeed speed up application performance (well, sometimes!) but it can also cause your PC to start up more slowly. This is why many PC performance freaks turn off pre-caching altogether.

However, since this system uses non-volatile memory (the USB stick) for the prefetch files, it might not cause this effect since it shouldn't have to load them in from the hard drive on start up

to be honest, youre better off just adding more ram!! you can get a 1gb stick for less than a 512mb pen drive! (besides my motherboard has 5 slots )

also, most pen drives dont have very good read / write speeds (at least mines doesn't )

but good anyway

the idea of this is really in vista. the app that i found is made intenionally for windows XP and i can play CoD 4 + Mozilla + Windows Media Player + 1 AV + 1 Anti Spyware program with just 1g ram..haha but it doesnt mean that the amount of flash disk you put is added really to RAM its just putting the cache in there rather in the hard disk. This is recommended for Laptop users

I used ready boost in vista with a 2GB flash disk. There was no performance improvement, the only thing i noticed that my HD was accessed a lot less when using windows.

so for safe keeping and minding all the read/write speed...

im using it on a USB2.0 with a 4G SDHC.... and it does speeds up the PC performance.... hence, maybe im just imagining things here.....

but to be honest... its alot faster if you borrow cache from your RAM.

eerr... i think...

just dont forget that if you have 1gb ram dont use it. Atleast 1.5g or higher RAM is need. always leave 1gb ram untouched
