> Why is the Nokia N82 not on Orange
Bookmark topic
Does anyone know why this phone is not on Orange or perhaps if its going to be in the near future. Even in CPW its only on O2. Why is this when the N82 is such a top phone from Nokia which is bound to sell.

I think some networks dont like the N82 because the Nokia music service rivals their own. The networks want the money from the public and dont want it going to Nokia.

Well does Orange not put their own software in anyway like they do with SonyEricsson Walkman phones instead of putting Walkman they change the software to Orange Music. I thought thats what they would do anyway so they would block the Nokia software or perhaps they dont have permission to do that. Shame.

Apart from the odd exclusive, Orange tend to release phones sometime after the other UK networks.
Why? In all honesty I'm not sure. We all know they tend to over customize the phones with their own software 'enhancements' (-which tend to be anything but). However, this in itself surely can't explain the 3-4 month lag.
Anyway, as was said earlier, the n82 (and n95 8gb) are listed on the site as coming soon. From previous experience, this usually means anytime from 1 to 6 weeks.
However, its worth calling them direct as sometimes they will let you have a new phone whilst the site is still showing it as 'coming soon'.

Actually i remember when i was on Orange contract some years back and they used to say ORANGE DO EXTENSIVE TESTING OF THEIR PHONES TO ENSURE ONLY THE HIGHEST PRODUCTS REACH YOU. Not anymore i dont think. They used to take longer cos of testing software now i hear its T Mobile who take longer.

Hi guys
There's a good discussion going on over at AVforums with a couple of lads posting their initial thoughts on the N82 Black & the Orange firmware after having given them the once over this weekend.
Having ordered mine on sat & yet to receive, i've been very keen to hear the early views. So far it all seems very positive (hoorah!) but read the full comments here.
