Hello all,

I'm interested in upgrading the firmware on my K800i as I have terrible
problems with it dropping the bluetooth connection to my car.

It drops every minute or so, then reconnects, then drops.....and repeat!!!

I've read a lot on this forum and others to try and figure it out for myself
how to flash the firm with the latest firmware. I am afraid it's not that easy
on the novice mobile phone upgrader.

I'm no stranger to flashing the bios and firmware on computers so I get the
logic, I've just never come across so many variations of essentially the
same thing for the one device.

I've got XS++ up and running and I get this info on connecting:

21:02:00| XS++ v3.1 (Darwin) Ready !
21:02:00| Executed on Microsoft Windows XP
21:02:45|
21:02:45| Attempting to open the interface...
21:02:45|
21:02:45| TURN OFF PHONE!
21:02:45| Hold 'C' button on phone and connect phone NOW.
21:02:45| You have 30 seconds...
21:02:45|
21:02:51| Baseband ID: 9900
21:02:51| Protocol Version: 3.1
21:02:52| Phone name detected!
21:02:52|
21:02:52| Profiling SEMC phone...
21:02:52| Platform: DB2020
21:02:52| OTP CID: 49
21:02:52| EROM CID: 52
21:02:52| EROM Color: Red
21:02:52| IMEI: 35170701xxxxxx
21:02:52| Phone ID: K800
21:02:52| Region: ORANGE_GEN
21:02:52| CDA: CDA102511/47 R13A
21:02:52| Firmware Version: R1CB001
21:02:52| EROM: R3A011
21:02:52| Ready for operation!

I've already updated my EROM CID to 52 from 51 as I've read this was a
good thing to do.

Now for the hard part............

Could someone explain - given the info above what is the latest firmware
for my phone.

There isn't much branding on the phone so I am not too bothered abou
removing that. Although happy to to get an upgrade on the firmware.

I think I am right that the 'Platform DB2020' means it is locked to Orange.
I am fine with this - might play around with that when I get more
experienced.

Is there and update for the EROM from R3A011 - I've seen R3A016
mentioned around. Is that the newest? What exactly does the EROM
control?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Matt

hi, it seems you have an old firmware version.

if you want to flash your phone to a newer version, see this thread: Phone Flashing Tutorial XS++

according to this list, what package will suit you the best? so we will know what CDA(custom pack) you'd need.

I'd need any language pack with English in.

So I guess I'd just stick with ORANGE_GEN.

I've already read the tutorial you sent the link to.
Looking at http://www.sek750i.pl and navigating through
Download -> Firmware -> Firmware for SE k800i -> CID 52 -> R1KG001

Does this mean R1KG001 is the upgrade to R1CB001?

I have downloaded
K800_R1KG001_MAIN_GENERIC_RED52.rar
K800_R1KG001_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52.rar

As I have the CENT_EUROPE FS file, does that mean I need the
CENT_EUROPE Custom Pack?

is not the latest, though is newer than the one you've got. the xs++ v3.1 has a list of customs. when you're going to customize your phone, then select the orange one, in case it appears there.

What is the latest?

ORANGE_GEN doesn't appear in XS++ 3.1.

Will CENT_EUROPE be okay?
CENT_EUROPE (CDA102568/2)

Hi,

I have managed to locate and download:

K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_SM_RED52.mbn
K810_R8BA024_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52.fbn

I am going to stick with this firmware first.

Given this info from XS++

00:32:32| Baseband ID: 9900
00:32:32| Protocol Version: 3.1
00:32:33| Phone name detected!
00:32:33|
00:32:33| Profiling SEMC phone...
00:32:33| Platform: DB2020
00:32:33| OTP CID: 49
00:32:33| EROM CID: 52
00:32:33| EROM Color: Red
00:32:33| IMEI: 35170701xxxxxx
00:32:33| Phone ID: K800
00:32:33| Region: ORANGE_GEN
00:32:33| CDA: CDA102511/47 R13A
00:32:33| Firmware Version: R1CB001
00:32:33| EROM: R3A011
00:32:33| Ready for operation!

and the conversation above I am happy that I have an updated firmware which is correct for my phone.

Before I press "Flash" does the attached picture look correct?

Once the flashing has finished, will my phone work again straight away?
Will all my numbers still be on the phone? Pictures? Videos? Games?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

the process seems to be fine. BUT if you flash your phone you will lose all your data stored in the phone's memory.

use MyPhoneExplorer to backup your phone.
