this was touched on yesterday in another topic, and its something I've been meaning to test out since I got my iphone and now seemed like a good time.

I've seen that S60 can do the same but I have now setup my TyTN II to serve as a wireless router for my iphone thus giving the iphone up to 3.6mbit HSDPA while I am not in a real hotspot.

I used WM WifiRouter which does it all for you. The software is free to trial until the 14th May.

Actually, windows mobile 6 can do this without any software. It has in built capability which just needs to be activated by some registry setting (details at XDA-DEVELOPERS) and I'm sure, based on info messages in WM WifiRouter, that the software is doing just this.

However, the software builds on that with other settings such as WEP key (so not everyone around you will use your connection), setting the wifi to high power mode for better range if needed, ip block, DMZ etc

I was almost tempted to sell the TyTN II but now I have a reason to keep it until the 3g iphone comes along. Strangely, most of my TyTN II use now is as a GPS (as I'm running Garmin) and now as a wifi router! I wonder if thats what HTC intended

Obviously the wiresless router can be used to connect your laptop as well as other devices such as your wii at home for firmware updates if you dont actually have a wifi at home
