Ok, got me a BST-40 a few hours ago, was excited to try it on my P990 and from what I've heard so far it is slightly thicker than BST-33 therefore the foam sticker on the battery cover needs to be removed/partially removed if it were to be replaced. I tried it without removing the foam sticker anyway to see what problem might occur. I had none, still don't have any right now and it does not seem too taxing on my battery cover. So do I really need to be doing something about it or are there any known long-term implications, because at this rate I can still use my BST-33 as a spare battery and that's just awesome. Hope to hear some of your experiences and comments, thanks.

I use BST-40 for almost a year now, without any problem.
It's harder to take away the cover though,
could be problematic with MANY cover removals.

So if the cover is tighter then less creaking also?

Ah, thanks Masseur, I thought there was a similar thread somewhere, I even commented on it. Now that the compatibility issue has been straightened out, it's just a matter of finding out how truly compatible it is with time, especially where the foam sticker's concerned
@Doministry
Have you been alternating the use between BST-40 and BST-33? Does it feel loose when you fit the BST-33 after using the BST-40 for a while?
@Abu Basim
It fits really snug in the P990, and no creaking at all for my unit. Two thumbs up for me

I've never switched back to BST-33, no need to

p990i's battery cover has a thick(about 1~2mm) black sticker inside as shown here:

you can try to remove this. your thick battery should fit perfectly.

-didn't tried, just an opinion. in hope of being helpful, gezz.

Thanks for your input, but that's just what I'm saying, so far I don't see any reason to remove the foam sticker because the BST-40 is very snug in my P990 now without modifying the battery cover. I'm just wondering is there a reason why people (including the guy I bought it from) are saying that the battery cover needs modifying to fit the BST-40

I have ben using the BST-40 on my P990i for more than 6 months now without any modification and the only issue , which @doministry mentioned, is when you have to remove the back cover after some time for any reason. It takes some extra effort and one has be careful not to lose ones nerves on the phone!!
Other than that there is no other problem!!!
