> W890i reception problem?
Bookmark topic
I have read quite a few comments of users experiencing being unable to get reception on their w890 on some suer review forums. I've had my phone since Wednesday last week and reception has been fine. However today I let the battery fully drain until the phone died – I then fully recharged to 100% after which my phone could not get a reception on vodafone network GSM or 3G. Put my SIM back in my old phone and reception was OK. Put the SIM back in the W890i and reception had returned. Really odd, I wonder if the phone has some kind of software problem? Anyone else experience similar problems?

Could be although i dont have one of these phones i remember when the K750i first came out and it had reception problems. It was then fixed with new firmware. If you say your network is fine where you are must be the phone.

Sometimes on some networks with certain phones the signal fluctuates more than others.

well when I could not get a reception the phone showed the circle with a line through it logo - like the no entry sign - so def either phone bug or vodafone signal had gone off air!

Hi,
What you need to do is switch off your phone, take out battery out and sim. Wipe sim with cotton, leave out for around 5 mins to reset. Then, put everything back in switch on the phone. Go to your mobile networks settings, change search mode to MANUAL. gsm/3g or just gsm is your choice... Then click on Select Network, then select which one you want, if 3g is included then obviously choose your network with the 3g icon aswell. Then I found that removing all what is listed in the PREFERED NETWORK section, which I think what confuses which connection it should be using even though it refers the to the internet service. Once you do that, you should start receiving text from ie Vodaphone asking to install internet settings and possibly others. Then you should find your signal is much stronger and totally stable.

I had a w890i and it had a very "sensitive" signal reception. It's was the only phone I had which gave me problems in this matter.
