Vodafone press release

Vodafone today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the globe. Later this year, Vodafone customers in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey will be able to purchase the iPhone for use on the Vodafone network.

It says later this year, so I would guess it is the new 3G model.

Vodafone UK aren't selling this though alot of people have been asking the staff at there eForum and the response was there not

02 have a 5 year deal on the handset,
if and after that 5 years is up then it's upto whoever what happens thats if Apple still continue to make phones

They all see something that some journalist has written in some magazine or newspaper based on a weak, 6 month old rumour they've heard and everyone goes bezerk.

You'll hear it here before you hear it in the general 'press' papers.

Here in NZ price rumours are floating around saying NZD$700 for an 8GB 3G model. That's way cheaper than the NZD$1000 - $1200 of unlocked imported versions selling here. I'd be very interested at that price, but for my wife, not for me - I'm hanging out for the W980.
