An Egyptian woman is currently seeking a clarification from the court after her husband divorced her by Short Message Service populary known as SMS. It is said that divorce by sms is prohibitted according to Muslim and Allah protocols. I for one find that more relevant and must be banned everywhere. If the court verdict will not be in favour of the ladz it will be the first of its kind that divorce was initiated by an SMS. The allegations brought foward by the man were that he call his wife 3 times and she failed to answer his call and thats why it all ended in a divorce. Read more of this

I recall a few stories where this is allowed and googling, the earliest I can find is from 2003

Different cultures, different needs for different ppl in different relationships, different expectations as well. Different strokes for different folks.
I'll agree, but maybe he has reason to suspect she's having an affair at certain times of the day/night where this was the last straw; who knows. But I'll agree not enough to go by. I just hope buddy is ready to expect that she'll ..... take .....

In the link that Big M posted it states that the sms read like this:
If you do not leave your parents houre you will be divorced
which is preety fair to me. But still the sms notification is a bit casual for such an issue.

Most jurisdictions support that
if the divorce was unfairly initiated the divorced wife is entitled to fity percent of the property you have as a man. It is called beneficiary settlements.
And now that the divorce is being initiated by sms it could mean the worst is still coming for the man.
