Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society. Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It
is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage y ou take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then
LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Wonder if the British politicians will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths?

how weird, that the scandinavian countries solved this problem, less or more. its amazing, that almost every immigrants speaks 3 languages, the own, danish, norwegian and some english and not to forget, they go to school and learned "the lesson". ok, it could happen, that certain groups make shit, but even its happening, they manage it on a diplomatical way, so we can hear onews from nordic countries really hardly. respect!

To be fair Boba, the man has a point.

I'm a British Muslim, though I feel that emphasis isn't on the British part of life, it's overlooked by most. Of course, saying that, my family isn't practicing, personally I've never been to a mosque or declined a bacon sarnie, my parents prefer religion largely out of our lives. It causes more trouble/grief that what it's worth. But still, I totally agree that if you live in one country, you should keep in line with tradition, not saying you should convert to Christianity and go to Church every Sunday and etc.
Excluding yourself from the British community, take Edgeware Road, it's almost as Islamic as Mecca, everywhere you turn the women are in Hijabs, it causes divisions between communities.

Not all my thoughts on this subject, as it's almost 11 and I have school tomorrow, but I think you all catch my drift?

just i think its weird, that these problems pop up now... maybe the goverments should have made thoughts of it ages ago... lets face the truth. cheap workers are always good and useful. if the economy runs well, everybody is happy, but when its shitty, sy has to be blamed and point on sy... its easier for politicans this way, instead to look at their own shit. same story here in austria. let let fugitives in, cos they get money from brussel after each one. but if sy, like me, wanna work here, its alwasy a pain in ass to get that crap permission...

Islam is a peaceful religion. There are those however who are terrorists but don't tell all the Muslims to leave. That's like saying a Christian who kills somebody means all Christians are killers so all should leave. And how about telling the Westerners to leave Iraq and return all the oil? Not likely.

Muslims have no right to ask for Shariah law in a non-Muslim country and also, Muslims are not being prevented from practicing their religion. But, the Muslims lands are being taken over for money and Islam is the villain created by the media. Now its all about banning the Qur'an and hijabis causing tension so they are constantly attacking us in order to justify their oil raids.

An Iraqi guy that comes to my local mosque saw his wife executed and his teenage daughter raped before being shot. This guy supported the occupation as well but not now. Now you tell me who the terrorists are.

@Arien617
Maybe you should read the Qur'an and you will realise that you do not in any way represent Muslims. Maybe you should find out why women wear a hijab rather than say 'religion causes tension', media slaves like yourself cause tension.
