guys i use

w810 and currently am in orissa. the prob is that it shows up E symbol everytime even if there's an edge network available or not.
but the speed is similar to that of a GPRS conn. Is it a f/w bug? anyone else facing similar prob. i dont think there are much edge towers in India. Correct me if i'm wrong. thanks in advance!

enhanced gprs and edge are the same.
HSCSD was the technology older than gprs in which user were charged on the basis of connection time rather than data uses, also it was costlier. its speed were upto 38kbps only.

A good option to check if you're on EDGE is to check the browsing speeds late night. During day time EDGE is only marginally faster than plain jane gprs, cut you might notice the difference late night! I get 8 to 12 kBps during day while at night it increases to around 28 to 34ks.. Thats certainly EDGE!

That means your network has upgraded from gprs to edge module in their every bts, and their network.
So it always show E instead of G eventhough theres no edge signal detected.
Actualy thats a good news they had abandoning the slower gprs

perhaps it may be like the 3g phones of nokia showing 3G even there is no network coverage .i think it is not a bug.
