If your using gprs settings you will need to phone your service provider to activate it

What phone have you got?
If you've got either a T68/T68i/T300 you can tell that you have GPRS enabled on your account by looking about the signal meter in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Above it should be a blue/green triangle that is filled in. If it's not there then you don't have GPRS.
If you have a different phone from any of the above then you need to check the manual for it to find out how you know when you have a GPRS available.
Also, even if O2 tell you they have already activated GPRS for you, you still need to have extra profiles for access sent to you.
