Hi All,
I've been waiting ever so long to buy the P1i, now that it's finally dropped to a price thats affordable (for me), I'm looking to buy it next month.
So far feature wise its been great, more or less does everything I want.
I do have a question though, which I have seen asked a few times, but I didn't see a clear cut answer.
Is the P1i able to send and receive faxes? via a third party free app perhaps? I figured it be really handy for me to be able to receive faxes or something fax a purchase order from my phone, as the Nokia communicator series can do this.
Appreciate any replies, cheers
PS: Has anybody tried Google Doc's on the P1i yet?

There's an option when you compose sms that says "send as fax". But you can't attach pictures, so I'm not sure what good it would do (or if it works). I guess it's probably just not implemented (along with various other things). So the closest would be some sort of fax to e-mail service. Or an operator dependent "notify" and web- based service, at least for receiving. (Which isn't what you'd choose for receipts or contracts, and so on, maybe..).
I

faxmachines.

Thanks for the speedy reply
So does that "send as fax" work if I just send as text? Meaning I could probably just fax a SMS to their fax machine, kinda.
Any fax is better than no fax, so thanks for the info
To be very honest, I don't see why faxing should be such a hard issue to implement. I'm not an expert on this (I barely know how to use fax, but when I do use it, i love it!), but as far as I know, faxing is same as making a call..kinda, it just makes the appropriate noises to the machine...so I don't see why handphones can't emulate that easily....unless it needs some kinda fax modem.
Cheers,

If you text a fax machine and it works let us all know.

Yes, I'd like to know if it works, too
.. And it would've been awesome to do this with an mms- template (say, two lines of text on a page, and a picture scaled to a4..).
(And no, it's not difficult to implement. But.. it has to be implemented. And through the wonder of the Telecom business, that..... *cough*)

Haha, sure. I promise I'll try that out within the first 24 hours of me getting my paws on my new P1i (be prepared to wait for a month or so though!).
