UK theme park resort, Alton Towers is piloting a "PDA Free Zone" during the May school holiday, to encourage parents to disconnect from the office and reconnect fully with their families. PDA police will be onsite to enforce the ban and any adult caught using a PDA whilst at the Resort will be asked to report to one of five "PDA Drop Off Zones" where they can safely leave their smartphones for the day.

The theme park says that if the scheme is successful, it will be introduced full time.

Who are they to tell me what to carry?!
I mean, if I went there, I'd use my phone if I so wished.

it`s obviously done in a light hearted way to try and encourge parents to concentrate on their kids and not work

I'd say its a good idea personally.

Some may find it difficult though.

Still, this violates basic human rights! I get really angry when someone tries to enforce such stupid kiddie rules. (yeah, it happens)

On a side note, who uses their smartphone whilst in theme parks anyway?

Mmm, think I'd rather use my PDA than visit AT, not been for two years but thought it was dire.

@nightblade..... maybe if u cant see the tongue in cheekness of this new 'Rule' then u shouldnt be shoutin about human rights....

All Alton Towers are trying to do is make taking the kids there a bit more fun an stop parents ignoring their children....

If u dont like then dont come over to the UK and go to Alton Towers.... thats the easiest way of protesting about it.
