> I got 12,000 free mins

I just swapped my tariff on O2 pay and go to Favorite Place with free mins from your postcode area. They now changed it to unlimited mins to landlines and O2 number if you top up £30 or more per month. To my shock my free mins this morning is 12,000 which is so crazy i will never use that many think my head might fall off from using my phone so much if i did. Its the same with free unlimited messages with O2 its also 12,000. I always thought networks put a cap on whats unlimited with normally around 3,000 or so. Not that im complaining but wow thats alot.

When i used to have unlimited texts and got 12,000 i rang O2 asking them if that was right or normal and they said they are looking to changing it cos its just a stupid amount and they also said their systems just put that amount on. Crazy. But i say its definately true i have that many mins if there is anyone else here on same tariff let me know what yours says its mad

Bear in mind though, 'unlimited' (or 12,000 minutes in this case, because they have to give it a numerical value) on this package is only to landlines and O2's, so cross networks out of the question. And as soon as you make a call and your not at your house, you get charged.
It's a good deal, but just in case other people on here start asking how they can get 12,000 free minutes on their contract lol

Actually i correct you there. My free mins work in the postcode area not just in my house or road. So far places in a 3 mile radius around where i live with roads which have the same first 3 numbers and digits the same as mine it works in which is nice. I can go to my local supermarket and it works which is 1 mile away from home.

Interesting, should work like that from what they've always told us.
It bases it on your entire postcode rather than the prefix, I guess we were told wrong tho, as usual

We have a network in South Africa that allows you to 'call for free on weekends', only to a number on the same network ofcourse
not sure if it's still free on weekends though
12 000 free mins is still crazy ! ! !

Yes it works with the masts that cover that area. Say if my postcode began with B1 then other roads in that area covered by the same masts it will work in. You always know your in the area as when you dial it says FREE CALL before it connects. Its not faultless though as sometimes i been in my house with solid coverage and it does not say FREE CALL before hand and i have to hang up and re dial but this happens rarely and i think its when the local masts are busy at busy times. Its fine for me as most of my calls i make from home anyway.

I never explained that properly. The masts that cover the area cover all roads and areas under say for instance the B1 postcode. Thats it.

yes thats correct you do get that amount but try and use them all, i had the 12000 texts and i managed to send 6000 in 3 weeks and they did phone me up explaining that although it says 12000 it works on a fair usuage policy,
