I understand now,
If you try to delete the predefined items, the memory will not freed up...

Here is my T300 condition: I've delete all predefined pictures/sound/templates, and I'm storing new pictures/sounds on my T300 now...

This problem has been discussed extensively before and it appears to occur on both T68 (including the "i" version) and the T300.

Adding an image of say 4Kb will actually cause the phone's memory to reduce by around 8kb instead.

There is one theory that suggests that the images are uncompressed from their Jpg/Gif compression and stored as uncompressed files in the memory, hence taking up the extra space.

Why don't they just uncompress it when you want to view it?

Apparently the processor that sits in both phones is simply not powerful enough to uncompress on the go without the user noticing a NOTICEABLE lag and so Ericsson decided to uncompress them once and store them as that, therefore saving processing time (and perhaps a bit of battery life) but of course resulting in more space being taken up than users would like.

This problem of course doesn't happen when you add ringtones as they are normal uncompressed files.

The situation is different for themes but I'll leave you to decide what happens with them as it should be quite obvious
