Can anyone suggest a solution to my problem? My K850i had a brain fart the other day. What happened was that I recieved a phone call and as I answered the call there was no sound thru handset speaker or from speakerphone. Then it restarted itself and displayed the startup screen, it would then display the normal or flight mode screen for less than a second and then the screen would cut out with the keypad lights on and it would vibrate once. It would repeat this process without displaying anything on the screen until I pulled the battery out from the handset. I tried removing the memory card, sim card and battery from the handset and leaving them out apart from the battery but that didn't work. Eventually it came good (don't know how either). After it started sucessfully I went thru some of the menus and found it wouldn't go into the SMS folders. It came up with an "Operation failed" error. Everything else seemed to work ok apart from the launcher. I checked the applications and games folders and they had the same "Operation failed" error. I did a master reset on the handset cause I have encountered the SMS folder issue before. After the master reset I found that none of the applications/games that were pre-loaded on the handset were there. All gone including the launcher application. This didn't happen when I previously did a master reset on the fone. The fone is locked to 3 so the main page has a touch button linked to the launcher on it. If its bumped the fone freezes. I can't update the firmware either cause the fone is locked to 3. I have tried fota too and it states my fone is up-to-date. Anyone got any ideas??
Software version is 1200-4399 R1CA029 070922

seems like a software issue. have you tried updating your phone with SEUS to the latest firmware? if not try it and see. if not try using davinci to flash your firmware and update it to the latest software using SEUS.

I'll try that. Just weird that all the preloaded sw is gone tho. Would a fw update reload that sw?

if you use davinci to flash ur phone it will cost u 10 EURO'S. davinci client will flash ur main and fs. basically what it does is. it erases everything and installs the new firmware. . this includes the software and everything.. once that is done you can update the firmware using SEUS. it is similar to formatting your hard drive and installing windows on it.

Shernon8, I have updated the firmware just using SEUS and the fone seems to be working fine (R1DA039 - 3's ver. of fw). Is there anyway of reinstalling the preloaded sw without using davinci?

you mean preloaded all your java stuff, pictures and SMS?
Once you flash your phone, that's lost.
Happen to me once when trying to install mgmaps: phone became unstable, rebooted autom.
then I had to reflash the phone using SEUS and is rock solid since 2 months ago (no a single reboot)

I lost the sw after doing a master reset. Is that similar to a fw update? I think there is something else going on with the fone tho. If the fone is turned off and on again it loses application/ game links and sms's that are linked to the memory card. This also happens if I eject the memory card even if the fone is turned off. I think sonyericsson needs to have a look at it. Unless anyone has any ideas as to whats happening and if there is a solution.
