Actually i live in Saudi Arabia. So I bought the P1i with Arabic firmware installed. After reading many threads about 'how to change the language' the most appropriate solution i have came across is to change your firmware and update the software to the latest. So after getting everything done step by step. I have changed my firmware to World Generic 1 and then i updated right away.

But still in the messaging option the langauge is in Arabic.

I need the qwerty keyboard to be in english. In short i want to disable the arabic language for my P1 or just delete the language from the system.

HELP I M HAVING SLEEPLESS NIGHTS! ! !

I selected English (UK).

After selecting english the language remains the same in messaging.

the language in messaging can be different from the language in the phone...so you must go to messaging options and change it

i have my p1 menus in english (it makes things easier for modding/hacking) and messaging/T9 is in portuguese

If you have successfully changed your CDA & flashed your fw to GW1, there should be nothing Arabic left in your firmware, at least ıf you've chosen UK English.

Could be your SIM language though..

What's your CDA now ?

It should read: 162022/1 (Standby > More > Status)

there is no such option in the messaging, its only for the T9. I have gone through every single area of the phone but cant find to change the language.

Sorry myth for the late reply. Newbies have the limitation to reply only 3 post in one day.

My firmware is:

Phone: CXC 162037 R9K009

Bluetooth: CXC 162143 R1D

Organizer: CXC 162108 R6G04

CDA: CDA 162022/1 R6G02

As for the sim language, I think is in english, because previously the handset which i was using was fully english. So no prob in the SIM.

No problem mate..

Ok, your firmware is GW1.

And it's strange as with GW1 + UK English there shouldn't be anything Arabic left, except the support for T9 and virtual keyboard.

Where exactly is the Arabic language setting ?

Ya i know its wierd, i mean i thought after installing the new firmware and all the language would definately be changed to english but here we go the arabic is stucked on the messaging.

On the qwerty keboard, the virtual keyboard/T9 is in english.

I'd try formating the internal disk, followed by a master reset, as if your old firmware's messaging app was the same version as the one in the new package it may not have been overwritten during the update. But as a master reset puts all settings to factory default, this may clear your issue. The reason I suggest a format first is to rid the phone of any backup files related to the messaging app.

This is only any educated guess though, based on the presumtion that the messaging app has it's own custom settings information file, itwould be very interesting to know if this works or not.
