Which manufacturer in your experience offers the best build quality?
For the last two years I have been using a Vertu Ascent. Previous to that I have owned tens of different phones from different manufacturers (this was because I worked for a mobile phone retailer and had access to handsets at discounted rates).
Recently I bought a Nokia E51 and found the build quality to be just OK.
What 'NORMAL' brand offers the best build quality. I am not asking about Vertu's and other high end phones. I recall my old Motorola V3 being quite sturdy. As Motorola uses metal in a lot of their phones, are they the strongest built? (e.g. Mot V8).
What real world phone inspires confidence in build quality?
(Also not discussing buggy, crappy software; just physical quality).

my 6500 slide is wicked
i've dropped it so many times slide open and close and it stills holds a smooth slide with no loose parts

No particular manufacturer has the best build quality. It all varies from model to model so some SonyEricssons can be poor as are some Nokias. Like i had a Nokia 6300 which had great solid build yet after that i had a 6500 which had a creaky bottom part.

I own a Motorola V8 and NOTHING from SE, Samsung or even LG comes close. I beleive only Nokia's 88 series is equivalent though not all of the 88 series. The build quality is truly out of this world.
Phones like the W890/880, LG chocolate or any other that use metal casing are basically the old V3, good but worse than the V8.
