> Blocking non-contract phones if stolen
Bookmark topic
Hi, can anyone help with this?
I have a handset that was stolen, I've blocked the SIM via the supplier. my question is: is it possible for me to block the phone using the IMEI. My prob is that all the info I can find tells me to contact my network operator to block the phone using the IMEI.
My Network provider only provided the SIM as I bought the phone 'stand-alone' without a SIM from expansys.com. Can such a phone be blocked if stolen? I am in the UK.

Ring your local police station and talk to them about 'immobilise', that should help them block the IMEI and the phone will become blacklisted, meaning it won't work on any UK network.
I assume thats what you are trying to say, your English isn't exactly amazing, little difficult to work out what you're trying to say...

Thank you for my reply (NB I'm sorry my post didn't meet with your approval re: English usage - I've re-read it and cannot in all honesty see what you mean by it being unclear- Obviously I want it to be as clear as possible so I may receive as much help as possible. So perhaps the following will clarify the original post:
I want to block the phone using the IMEI so that the thieves cannot use the handset by swapping the SIM for an unblocked SIM.
RE: Immobilise.com - I had checked them out prior to posting here ... the following is a direct copy & paste from their site (ie I'm not "shouting")
PLEASE NOTE THAT REPORTING YOUR PHONE AS LOST OR STOLEN ON IMMOBILISE PUTS THE PHONE ON THE NATIONAL POLICE STOLEN PHONE REGISTER IT DOES NOT BLOCK THE PHONES IMEI NUMBER OR SIM CARD, TO DO THIS YOU MUST RING YOUR NETWORK.
So they cannot provide what I'm looking for.

the operator can block/bar phones that you bought elsewhere, I've done it myself a couple of times when my kids lost or had them stolen at school
All they do is lookup on their records to confirm that you have used that IMEI with a sim which is on your account and they should do it. I've also been able unblock such a phone again when it was later found.
