does any of you chaps know if there exists a USB datacable which charges the battery at the mean time? Doe they all do it?

sorry mate, i dont think it exists. ive never seen one around before. anyway you could get a cheap usb charger for about £6, which aint exactly gonna make your wallet sweat? although it would be a great idea if anybody else out there has spotted one.

I paid around 80 swiss francs, and it comes complete with software to backup your contacts and send sms aso.

So you would need software to use the cable as a charger? I'm planning to use it in my car : I have a cigarette-plug adaptor which gives me a USB-connection. I use that to charge my PDA - can I charge the phonebattery? Or is it only possible connected to computers with installed software?

No, no! No software needed to charge! Simply plug it into the USB plug, and go 4 it. The software is only to backup the phone or change settings.

And: No, no charging with serial-cable. Charging has nothing to do with software...
