> Nokia phones generally generates too much heat
Bookmark topic
A Sony Ericsson service consultant, whom had came out and started his own business which include Nokias had told me that Nokia phones "generally" generates too much heat especially when talking too long. Similarly the SE W880i because its slim and due to the casing material.
Anyone has similar experience with both Nokias and SE???
Would the heat be bad for health???
I remember earlier days where (at least) I do look out for the SAR value of each new handphone but that seems being overlooked nowadays.
I have just bought a Nokia 6500 slider, love it and so does my girl but she complained handset hot after long conversation and her ear is painful. Immediately I have put it back to the shop for resale...
Anyone with similar experience??

Well, a nominal amount of heat generating when you're talking for too long is considered normal if i'm not mistaken. Although you should be concerned if it does get extremely hot. It should be fairly easy to tell when the heat is too much. Also, the use extensive use of handsfree and headsets has made people overlook this issue.

Same is the case with my N73. It does heat up with continuous data usage. Especially when I use the phone as modem. That I guess is considered okay.

when using wifi on phone or use as modem heat is normal esp where signal is low. the concern here is more on heat when using for conversation over normal telephony where one would put near ear. my w960 does not feel that hot after long conversation only some heat

Give the guy a banana.... All phones heat up during conversation, some granted heat up more than others, but heat can't disperse that easily when it's A) being held in a hand and B) being pressed against an ear all while actually being in use and draining battery power.... having never looking into it really, I can only assume it's generally caused by friction, speaker vibrating away while your speaking and listening, speaker pushes air out and sound waves out, sound waves go into your ear canal and get deciphered by the greatest instrument you'll ever own into a format you can understand.. but where does the air go? oooh... there's nowhere for it to go.... so as time passes more and more air is being put in betweeen your ear and the speaker, and we all know what happens when molecules move about and your introduce more molecules into it, they bang together creating heat.......
TA DA!
heat is made.... wooooooo
Also batteries.. they don't discharge cleanly, when under heavy use they have to work and a by product of that is waste heat and that has to escape somewhere...........
WAHEY! 2 lots of heat.....
Now, where's my banana?
