Since this weekend, my Vodafone 770i has developed several faulty keypad buttons. I ordered a replacement keypad online but now the on/off switch seems also to be faulty. I suspect the phone must have got wet or been exposed to young children.

I am reluctant to depower the phone because I won't be able to turn it on again. So I can't fit the replacement keypad and won't let the phone discharge.

Is there a way to switch this phone on without using the on/off key on the top of the case?

Is the on/off key user-servicable (I used to be pretty good with soldering iron / surface mount / etc.)?

Thanks.

I would always take it back to where you got it before messing about with it yourself. Even opening up the phone will void any warranty you may have, if they know you've done it. Take it back and see what they say before you go playing around, especially if you're unsure about opening it up.

Thanks M-O.

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn on this phone without using the on/off button?

Cheers,
