For the past 2 nights, completely out of the blue, I have woken up to find that my P1 has crashed whilst on charge.

The clock had stopped, my alarm didn't go off, and the phone wouldn't respond to any key pressed. The battery had to be removed.

Initially I thought it must be one of the apps running in the background, but after the first reboot, hardly anything was running, so I doubt it.

Can anyone suggest anything, other than a master reset?

Have you tried not having it on charge overnight to see if it's battery/charger related? Could possibly be that your mains power has been fluctuating in the night (electricity company doing some work?).

Have you installed any new 3rd party software recently?

Thanks for the reply. I believe it only happens when the charger is connected, yes. I think I charged my phone Friday night and last night, but not Saturday night (and it hadn't crashed on Sunday morning).

I haven't installed anything recently.

Then this points to a problem in the charging system/your mains supply. My guess would be the charger - always been a weak link IMO, had two die on me completely on two consecutive holidays - not robust at all.

I guess you could check that the little spring pins on the charger/cradle aren't bent, and if you're using the cradle - that the charger is firmly plugged in underneath. My old p990 used to crash like this when it had an intermittent connection to the charger - it occured when I tried to plug it into the craddle whilst still in it's krusell case, the case held it off the pins just enough to make a very tenuous connection.

Thanks, I'll see if I've got another charger at home. Is any charger with the same connector okay? I may have one that came with a W810i.

I believe so, but I think there's a compatibility list on SE's website to be sure.

You can use every charger for fastport connector so any charger will be OK...

Well I tried another charger last night and no crash, so it looks like you were right, Ad. Thanks!

Glad it wasn't anything more serious

Me too! I was dreading having to do a reset, let alone taking it for repair.

Does anyone know what the policy is with regard to faulty accessories?
