> Flash Lite 3 for UIQ - any hope left?
Bookmark topic
I know this has been talked about, but I'm a bit pessimistic now, after all the Symbian open-sourcing hype. Well, should we still hope for Flash Lite 3 in UIQ? I'm mostly interested in the P1i, as this is the phone I wish to buy next.
The G900 still has the mentioning "Flash Lite 3 support (from maintenance release 1 of
the phone software)" in the white paper. Is this the case with the units that are shipping? Or is it going to "magically" disappear from the white paper like SE did with the Opera plug-ins and animated wallpapers for the P990i?

No one knows.
The most realistic hope seems to be the flash- plugin on digia's s60 webkit port to UIQ3.

Well, I've read that porting applications (or even less plug-ins) from S60 to UIQ isn't such an easy task, though I agree, it would be our best bet...

..As far as I understand, the plugin interface is something they're writing from the beginning. It's also written for Symbian, so the port is not on getting ram- use or OS mechanisms to play nice, but to create new workable interfaces and using the platform dependent controls.. So - potentially a very good "port".

I believe there is hope, or rather initiative, since coreplayer can play flash now.

Flash lite hmm. If you plan to use it for menu changes I don't know if it is gonna be possible, but you already have an app for interface changes (Gdesk) though it is not flash, but still very interesting, useful and offers a lot of options and features for interface change.

UIQ3 smartphones supported.

Hmm they should implement such feature in UIQ browser... Well the new version of Opera browser is coming soon, so we will see if it has something new like this...
