I have heard it is possible to use my SE k800i as a modem on my vista laptop, but i cannot find one website with the correct settings to enter on my computer. The internet service on my k800 is O2, but it is prepaid gprs, which is £7 per month, so is not dial up and not charged per minute. My laptop within the internet setup, however, requires a service name, service phone nos, password and IP address etc to use my phone as a modem, so i am completely stuck. Can anyone help, if they have managed to get it working on an O2 k800 mobile phone? The internet service on my phone has a limit of 200mb per month, and would prob be slow using it as a modem on my computer, but i wanted to try it out at least once. Thanks very much for any help if possible. I have heard i can use O2prepaywap as the provides name, and 193.113.200.195 as the iP, port 80 or 8080, but some claim these settings may not work. Anyone? Thanks for any help

Update - i got it working, but only for o2.co.uk! I did not need to even enter any settings on my computer. Unfortunately no other http addresses work, so i must need to do something else to get them going as well? If only the pc had a similar browser to the mobile (eg opera mini)

In IE goto Connections then Settings. Then you need to use a proxy server. Use the address u specified in your first post and also the Port number which i think is 8080. You might also have to uncheck the 'automatically detect my settings' but see how u go.
Hope this helps

the ip from my first post was automatically detected, same as port 80, but no http address other than the o2 homepage works. Im sure its something simple i need to do to get it to work for other addresses

In most cases settigs don differ that much. Well I have never had any experiance with SE since Iam a moto user.
However after I installed the moto software I had to setup the internet connection before I could even use it.
All that was of importance was the apn and the type of data service which ofcourse its GPRS.
The other infor like passwords and usernames are just automatically provided by the netwok provider after yoou have configured the APN and the data type.
Just Likke I siad I may not be sure with SE
Good luck

suggestion. switch to 3, get their payg 3g dongle. i think it's good value, starter at £70 dongle & 3gb for 3 months, after that there's various monthly payg tariffs depending on how much you [want to] use.
my phone is also K800i on o2 payg but you can't get youtube so it seems VERY stupid to use them for a laptop connection.
imo.

I think youtube detects mobile phone usage normally and does not allow access. using a SE or equivalent phone, tinytube.net is as good as it gets for converted youtube videos! I think they are in 3gp format if i remember correctly. I eventually got my phone working as a modem for all website viewing, pretty slow but ok for checking email and basic sites on a bigger screen if necessary. in IE tools>options, connections>settings, adding a new connection, i inserted the IP above in both address boxes, and ticked auto detect, auto config script, and use proxy server. Port 8080. now all websites will load up. I have no internet on a pc at the moment so this will have to do! Lol.

@extent26
O2 block any attempt to any RTSP: apart from their own wap site thats why YouTube videos wont work!
