> Cyprus Plans Ban on Mobile Phones in Schools

New legislation being planed by the Cypriot government would ban school pupils from taking their mobile phone into schools. Under the proposed law, students carrying a mobile phone into school would be censured - and those who carry a phone that is switched on could face suspension from school.
Anyone using a mobile phone as a video camera would face expulsion - in a move to try and cut down on so called "happy slapping" incidents where pupils video bullying incidents and then share the clip with friends.

Mixed feelings about this.. phones are already banned at schools here in India.. maybe they should allow only basic phones with sms and call facility so that the students can be traced and located in case of an emergency.

From the way I see it I think whizkid has a brilliant point. Yhe main problem is with the advanced fetures of the phone.
In the school I used to work in phones were banned as well
