Had my W960i a while now and have been dissapointed that there appears to be no way for syncing songs from PC to W960i with Star ratings as per iTunes/WMP11 devices.

If you update the firmware you appear to loose star ratings & moods.

Anybody aware of any software that can sysnc a large music library with the W960i based on track ratings and reflect changes made in the W960i.

Seriously starting to consider iPhone as I was hoping the W960i could replace my iPod Nano. I reallylike the interface & sound quality with my DS960's or Shure SE530's but this lack of two way sync to a PC is really killing it for me.

I'm getting by using SyncMyPortable to put my playlists on from iTunes but only a one way solution.

Tnx for the info. I didn't know that...

Anyway I don't use star rating much, but as the time goes, I'm starting to use this option more and more . It seems to be useful sometimes

It seems that ratings are saved in phone memory, separated from the song's tags and info...

Yes, when I updated the firmware all ratings & moods were reset. I've found nothing that can access the star ratings. If you do a full phone backup & restore everything is fine, its just that I have around 10,000 tracks on my PC at 256-320kbps which only allows around 750-1000 tracks on the W960i so using a smart playlist structure like the example below is perfect and is exactly how an iPod/iPhone or even WM mobile works.

5 Star - Always keep on phone
4 Star - Always keep on phone but randomise selection if more songs than available space
3 Star - Include a selection based on least recently played tracks
2 & 1 Star tracks - never make it to my phone/iPod but still exist in PC library

0/Unrated tracks - Always include some so I can review & rate them. This is where it falls apart as changing these on the phone are not updated on the PC.

This regeme keeps it fresh and opportunity to re-rate etc. if tastes change (works perfect with iPod & most likely with WM devices).

I did phone SE last year & they said it wasn't possible to sync ratings & moods but hoped things might have improved.

Just an update.

I called SE again and answer is still a NO. Nothing that can keep ratings updated between the W960i & PC software.

Must admit that if I'd known ratings sync was not possible I'd have not bought the phone as using Star Ratings is a very powerful way of ensuring the limited music selection you keep on the 8GB drive reflects your changing moods while keeping track replacement fresh with autoplaylists. The W960i doesn't even have a Genre catagory!!!

Now that SE has confirmed this is still not possible & no plans to change this & no 3rd party software to do it it looks like I'm going to have to look into the iPhone or Windows Mobile device (mostly Samsung Omnia i900).

I know this is a Symbian forum but can anybody confirm if Windows Mobile devices sync ratings with WMP11 especially with regard to Auto-playlists?

Well this is not symbian forum . THis is a category for symbian phones. Anyway the only phone running WM is the XPERIA X1 which is still not released, so I don't know if it can synchronize star ratings, but in my opinion, if the Windows Mobile operating system uses some sort of default Windows Media player application it surely should be able to synchronize songs info 100%
