Hi all

As most networks & people are now benefiting from some sort of 'unlimited' data bundle added to their plans i thought it might be interesting if people commented or added their download speeds here? So then what speeds are we all achieving? Are Vodafone owners receiving the best speeds? Have O2 lived up to their promise and rolled out sufficent HSDPA coverage now? Are 'Web&Walk' owners really able to do just that? and do Orange actually know what data/3.5g is?

Well I'm on Orange (don't laugh) in Wolverhampton and having just carried out a couple speedtests via www.dslreports.com/mspeed i've averaged:

692.3Kbit/Sec
0.5381 Latency
12.458 D/L Time

So come on guys post your results here, cheers

Hi all,

Well attached is a speed test on VodaFone although this is about average i have seen higher @2,200kbps odd though never 3.2 mbps well not yet anyway. But even the below result is still over 4.5 times faster than 3G.

@Number 1

What phone are using and which ISP as those speeds are very good indeed.

Hi number1

Can you try the tests using the inbuilt browser as Opera Mini uses data compression at the server and it's just not possible for you to get those speeds on a device that only supports 3.6mbps HSDPA.

Is the high speed test also using 02 or is that over WiFi?

The c702 doesn't have wifi, never knew opera mini uses data compression will try with the default browser.

Default browser gives around 600kbps max with a full hsdpa signal what rubbish, took a while to process the speed test aswell, opera mini 4.1 processed the test in seconds and gave over 9000kbps, to me both seem wrong i know when i download stuff it downloads faster than 600kbps but no where near as fast 9000kbps ill stick with opera mini anyway.

Hi number1

Thanks for that as your speeds did seem unbelievable and should of been similar to darrengf on the same Network. The reason i questioned your speeds was 02 are not known for having the fastest HSDPA but you are still getting nearly 2x 3G speeds.

One of the reasons that people use Opera Mini is that a lot of compression is done on the server so it downloads quicker and i believe it strips out some of the information it deems unnecessary.
