I am desperate.
I tried everything but my P1i just won't sync with my PC.

I did a format c:, I reinstalled Outlook 2007, changed back to outlook 2003, reinstalled PC Suite, removed all traces of it (files, registry entries). tried an older PC Suite versions.

The strange thing on my previous laptop it worked with exactly the same config without problems.
When I bought a new laptop it worked from the start, but after a while it refused to sync.

Install and access folders all work ok.
The sync starts, but after a few minutes the process "syncengine" starts to use 50%+ processer use and slowly then slowly it's memory footprint grows form a few 100k to 2Gb and than it halts "Could not sync".

I have Vista SP1, dell Inspirion 1720, Outlook 2007.

The same P1i also syncs fine with my work PC (XP, Outlook 2003).

Does anyone have a suggestion for a solution ????

It would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have a software firewall that could be blocking it? Also, are you tryin to sync via bluetooth or usb?

Have you checked that all the ports are accessable in mrouter's advanced settings, and that there are no warnings showing there.

Last of all have you tried uing a different physical usb port on your pc? As it could always be a simple hardware fault that's causing the problem, I'm assuming that you use the same usb cable to sync with your work pc - so we can discount that.

Thx!
- My firewall is off (I tried that)
- I tried USB and BT, neither works, but the basic link seems to function fine (I can install apps)

Did you look at the settings for mrouter?

Aslo, when the phone is connected, have a look in your pc's device manager, you should have four references to your p1 - two under usb controlers, and two under ports. Should any of these be missing, look under unkown devices, and update the driver of anything there by pointing the hardware installation wizard to the "Sony Ericsson Symbian 9 Drivers" folder which you'll find under c:\program files\sony ericsson. I only sugest this as the pcsuite uses different ports for different functions, and this could explain the partial functinalty you have.

EDIT: Just a thought, but did you remove all the driver files from c:\windows\system32 before reinstalling the pcsuite? If not, then there may be a corrupt file that is not being overwritten when you reinstall.

Yes, I tried every possible mRouter setting.
When I select additional com ports (which should not be required, to my understanding) it gives an error on port 4 (Stopped: system can not find the specified file). Port 3 &5 give no error.
When connected by USB I have two SE ports, two SE USB controllers and one SE modem. All these where not there when connected by Bluetooth.
I did not delete drivers from windows/system32, but I understand that it takes it's file from there, even if thay are faulty.
I could try that, but which files should I delete? I can't find any reference to sony Ericsson, mRouter or Teleca.
I suspect that the plugin for Outlook (Async) is causing the trouble. Outlook asks sometimes if it should be disabled because it is causing errors the last time. Which I refuse ofcourse.

All the driver filenames start with the letters 'zebr' including the .inf file.

One thing we haven't looked atis the firmware on your phone, it's possible that it may need reflashing/updating via SEUS.

Also, can you make backups with the pcsuite?

Is port 4 one of the P1's ports on your pc? If so then try reinstalling the driver for this port from the symbian9 folder.

When I select Additional com ports in mRouter it shows Com3-8. Com 4 gives an error "system cannot find the file". The same is true foor Com 6 and 8.
How do I install the com ports?
I tried deleting the files you mentioned (and all other references to PC Suite), and reinstalled. Alas, no effect.
My firmware is R6G04, the latest.

I also tried to backup, it worked perfectly fine.
I really think it must be the connection to outlook, not the phone.

To check the drivers for the com ports, go to device manager on your pc, double click the the port under com ports, select the'driver' tab, click on 'update driver', follow the wizard and tell it to install from a specified location and point it to your symbian9 drivers folder.

Hmm, I tried this too.
But Vista insists that the he can find no newer drivers, no mather where I point it to.
I can see no solution, I am contemplating to give. The only possible road I see is reinstall Vista, Outlook and then PC Suite. But thats to drastic.
