My question to everyone is that, is it really worth while going for the 8MP camera phone that s.e and other companies are due to be launching. I am pretty happy with my 5MP k850i handset. I take pics and i send them to other phones and have them displayed on the computer, on sites such as facebook. I never print out pics etc. So for someone who has this type of usage when it comes to taking pics etc, is it really worth while going for the 8mega pixel camera?

Since I am really considering staying with a good 5mega pixel camera phone it does everything i want it to do.

5mp is far too many for a mobile phone already i'm sticking with 3.2 which is the maxium for a phones tiny cmos sensor. I think the phone manufactures are using bigger cmos sensors for 8mp but they still wont be big enough a phone could never hold a big enough sensor unless its a huge brick.
Just stick with a maxium of 3.2 if you want decent quality pics.

to be honest if u purely use the pics on phones and on prints upto a4 then 3.2 would be great...

as the camera gets more pixels the worse the noise is going to get and the worse the compression methods are going to b to squeeze as many pics on the card as poss and to speed up the time taken by the phone to save the images too.

If u want a good cam buy a good cam... if u want a phone by a phone.... if u want both then buy both lol... get the best u can.

I like most people dont want to carry around a digi cam & a phone so need a phone with a good cam i got the c702 as its the best cam phone i could find on the uk market regardless of cost i would normally buy a high-end phone but rubbish 5mp cams spoilt them all.

I'm still using my 2mpx k750- and satisfied - but yeah- comparing pics from friends and online- I too think 3,2 megapixels is ideal right now.
Just wait for the c905 to come out, check out some shots from the bros here and then decide

As nice as the C905 looks, its picture quality will be similar to my N82. So no i wont be going to 8MP. 5MP is plenty.

voda_jon is indeed "practically" correct and the post makes a lot of sense..

buy a camera if you really wanted photos and a phone for phone's sake lol..

imo, 3.2MP is indeed already decent for a camera-phone
