Lately, there has been much hype about mobile phones either being innovative or not innovative.
I just tend to wonder what do people think about what makes a cell phone innovative.
Any comments any1??

imo, innovation in mobile phones is something brought out for the first time; introducing something new or unique.

yup just like raxec said...
just increasing a pixel or 2 in the camera or improving the media player isn't innovation.
the best eg for innovation are w800 and k750.

Innovations on SE for this year?
W980 - antenna-less FM transmitter
R306 - AM radio band
C905 - xenon + 3LED + red AF assist + mirror in one
C902 - slimmest 5mp cam phone (tell me if i'm wrong)
i know the facts were not the complete but just to give idea to those guys who thinks SE is no longer innovative these days

so judging by the comments ...
i think SE was and still is the most innovative company
k750/k800 = best cams in the industry
k850 (regardless of performance) = first phone to use accelerometer, slider mechanism option in camera, video light
c905 = first ever 8 MP announced, DLNA A-GPS (which by the way samsung innov8 has it as well)
So thn y ppl say SE is not innovative anymore??
IMO, SE were the forefathers of innovations , they started the trend, build a pathway for others to follow .. now they r having a prb perfecting tht trend .. but thtz a different issue

in case you didn't know W710 is SE's first phone to utilize accelerometer, but only for the use of it's sports-oriented applications. although many people haven't known it until W580 and W910 were announced showcasing their accelerometer's most highlighted novelty: the shaker and the autorotate
