There was a problem with my friends W880i's volume slider, so we carefully removed the front cover, removed and replaced the slider and then re-assembled the phone. However, the phone is no longer turning on. It will vibrate when you hold the on button and the screen will flash repeatedly, but it will only flash black. Any ideas how to remedy this problem, or even what's wrong?

You must have loosen up some parts of the screen then, since this is not a software problem.
I think you should disassemble the phone and check the screen.
Btw, what does the screen show you?
