I have just successfully debranded my K610i and preferred networks is still grayed out.
Any ideas?

A complete re-flash debrand was done, so the GSM/3G networks menu now shows - but the preferred networks is still grayed out

I've not had a branded oe locked Sony Ericsson for the last two years, and i've never seen the prefered networks option available. Last time i could use it was on my W850i.
Perhaps its a network thing. Sorry i can't be of more help.

When I use my O2 UK sim the Preffered Networks option is greyed out but when I put a Vodafone sim in its available so its probably a service provider thing.

Well I have not unlocked the phone so I cannot test that...
But it could be something to do with the SIM that stops you accessing the preferred networks menu.

you have to apply patch to unlock sim. search through the forums and you will surely find the answer to your problem
