> Wallpaper Extraction - P900, possible?
Bookmark topic
Hi, my first post, go easy on me
Ive got my old p900 sitting here, I lost all the images on it, couldnt recover the data on the memory card, I havent tried scanning the phone (if I can? with data recovery software.
Basically, there is a photo of my fiancee on there as the wallpaper (on flipup + down screens)
I wanted to surprise her by getting it back, possible?
Can I extract themes and/or files and recover the image that way? Its clearly stored somewhere!
Kind regards

It can be extracted of course. There are 2 ways i think.
You can use Sony Ericsson Themes creator to find the picture.
You can use winrar. I don't know if it will work with .utz (symbian themes) but you can give it a go. Try extracting the archive using Winrar.
Or give me the theme I will extract the picture for you.

Hi, many thanks for your reply.
I had to purchase another DSS-25 Sync Station to try and dump the theme.
Ive installed Sony Ericsson PC Suite 3.1.1 for the P910/P900 from SE's website.
Ive connected my phone, it sees it as 'My P900'
I exlpore the device, it shows no files / folders - back up and restore only has the Import/Options buttons
not greyed out.
Is this normal? How would one go about exporting the theme .utz?
Thaks for looking and your time
Regards
P.S. Ive added you to MSN, if you dont mind.

I would send it via bluetooth/infrared to my pc. Or if you can't do that, just try finding it on the internet again to extract it...
P.S. I don't mind having you on msn. It's not problem.

Its a picture of my fiancee, not a generic picture....
Ho would I bluetooth the theme itself?

Right, slight problem.
Ive gone into control panel--->Themes
Current theme is
grass
Send As--->Blutooth, to my N95 - all images are from the grass theme and not the picture of my fiancee!

If the wallpaper you had up is NOT part of the theme it will not download that way. It does not become part of the utz. file if you use it as separate wallpaper. It should be in images, which you say you no longer have.
So then it's stored in the phone memory somewhere under wallpaper settings. Need to do some research on how to get to that though, it isn't very readily accessible (if at all)

Hmm I tried helping him. It seems that the wallpaper is not located in the theme. I extracted the whole graphics of the theme, but the pic he was looking for is not there... Anyway, it is located somewhere in the phone so he couldn't find it. Is there any search application for his phone???

It may be hard to dig it out that way... hmm, can you install applications? How about installing an app for screenshots, and taking a screenshot of your desktop? It may be a bit wonky (especially if the indicators cover the image), but if the picture isn't normally accessible, then it might be the only way.

wong_O nice going mate... it may solve the problem you know... If he only can find the picture in the phone

... He could probably take a screenshot of the desktop like that, but on desktop there are the date and time on top of the picture so it will be useless imho... Anyway, give it a try, it may just work...
