> Unbranded Phones (W890i) with Voda Live!
Bookmark topic
Right, I've been searching arond for an answer for this and I've had no luck. Someone here mentioned it with regards to the p900, but that seems irrelevant now.
I have a

W890i which I have as an insurance replacement for my W910i which was branded Voda Live! Now, however, I can't get on to the Voda Live portal. I can get on to any other WAP site and many other non-wap sites, but not the Voda one. I called them up and they said by design non-branded handsets do not work properly on the Live site, as it delivers a catered experience for the phone that you're using.
My problem with this is that I'm using a phone which they supply anyway, so surely there's already a 'catered experience' for me, but I can't access it.
My other problem with this is that why do other sites have no problem detecting handsets (I work for a mobile music aggregation company which builds WAP sites) and delivering correct content to the users?
As it stands, I still really need to get access to Live! to enable me to do my job, any ideas?

You can flash it with Vodafone Firmware.

how would I go about doing that? the same way as I've had my previous phones flashed or can I ask voda to do it?
It seems odd that I just can't access it without having to do it.

Did you get a branded phone which you unbranded? Or was it a debranded phone which voda gave you?

I had a branded phone, that broke, then I claimed on my phone insurance (through my bank, not vodafone) and they sent me a new totally vanilla W890i.

Well currently there is no free service to flash the DB3150 phones.
To flash it with vodafone firmware you need to purchase a credit to use any online flashing tool.

Well search for debranded phones when you are buying - if possible. If you already have bought 3150 branded phone, use totalgsm client to flash it with generic firmware and get it debranded.
Totalgsm is not free, but it should do it cheap at least,

It's a retail unbranded handset to start with , which is apparently where y problem lies, I just wondered if anyone know of any settings to make it work on live without getting it branded.
It seems as though this isn't going to happen though

I have an unbranded K810i that can access Vodafone Live! no problem at all.
I just downloaded the correct Internet settings from the

website, and can find the site through the phones default browser.
If you have the correct settings for internet access on Vodafone, the page is your default Home. If I press the internet button on the keypad, I go straight there. If you open the browser, press More, then Go To, and Voda Live should be the top of that list.
Just try getting the settings off the

website and see how you go.

Or try looking for setting at your operator's shop. They should be able to congirure your phone for GPRS usage. Actually

's website has plenty of countries and operators supported and may have the settings you are looking for.
