Hello, I switched to a new theme earlier today, and now i cant access anything on the main manu with my w880i. When i open the menu, it is just a blank blue screen.

Now, this is a bit of a dillemma to me, as i cant get to the settings menu to assign a new theme. Is there any way i can fix this? As its a default theme I cannot delete it with the USB cable.

I dont mind restoring my phone to factory settings, as there is nothing on it, it is just a day old.

Thanks

I know it may seem like an obvious or silly suggestion, but did you try simply restarting the phone?

Yeah, tried turning it off, on, taking the battery out, etc etc.

A factory restore wouldnt be bad, is there any way to do that without having to go through the menu?

As far as I know, no, not without going through the menu. Is it possible to take it back to the store you got it? If like you say, its only a few days old, then it should be within the return period and they should give you a replacement straight away.

Well, I got it yesterday after returning it to orange on insurance, after "losing it".

Now, ive only had it a day, and its playing up already (When I changed from the horrid Orange Music theme to Citybeat it all went wrong, two default themes).

Id prefer to do it myself if possible, to save me having to go even longer without a phone. I can still do a lot, text, call, etc, just the menu is gone.

Edit: It seems I can only post 3 times today. Will a flash fix the menu? I was looking at them yesterday, ill have a look into it now.

One other thing you can try is to leave the battery out of the phone for a good half hour or more, then try it again. But it really sounds like its somehow damaged or corrupted the software. I have no idea why or how that would happen though.

If you want to fix this yourself, then you may need to learn how to flash your phone. There are several firmware flashing tutorials about. Many in the software forum here on Esato which should help you. Just a word of warning: It will void your warranty if it is obvious that you've messed with the software.

I haven't ever flashed any of my phones, so I am no expert so if you have any questions about flashing, you may like to ask in one of the flashing threads. Good luck!

See if the Sony Ericsson update service recognises the phone and update via that first. If it says you have the latest software just click on Continue Anyway.See if that sorts your problem out.

Yeah that would be best, update fw woudl rest the theme to default.

Just for my interest: which default theme is it that you've installed? It seems something you might want to mention to SE
