Hi, I've now had 2 W980, both with extremely bad/low voice in the earphone(s).
1st one was returned as "DOA". Got a new phone. This was slightly better in the beg., but after a couple of days this one also had the same probl.
It was nearly impossible to hear what persons "in the other end" said, esp outdoors with "moderate disturb. noice". Compared both W980 with my K800i and the difference was so obvious, that I returned the 2nd as well.
Both was made W28 & upgr with new f/w! Anyone noticed simil probs??

Yea i had that prob before. I took off the silicone cover and, with a pin, took off the small pieces of felt on d earpieces. They block so much volume.

It could be that every W980 at the shop you bought them were faulty. Like a whole batch of W980s were faulty. So it may be a good idea to return it for your money back and go somewhere else to get one.

But you should know that no SE phone will go deafeningly loud, they go to a decent volume though. So if you want deafening, maybe you should get an iPod or something, they deafen me at full volume! Also, don't expect a phone to have really great audio quality, after all it is a phone, not a dedicated music player.

Well most of the cases the phone produces better sound than music player if you mod it's acoustics... Actually I use my phone instead of mp3 player device.

Guys, you got it wrong. I think the OP means that the volume is low in the earpiece. Not in the headphones.

As I know, I got both W910,W980 and K800 right now.. I can't hear much different from them when I speak via phone or with headphone..

mine was made W28 too. R3CA33 was the firmware come with the phone, did update to R3CA38 when I got it..

Yes, I'm agree. The earphone volume is rather low, similar to the one in W910. That doesn't mean that I'm deaf.

Mine is also w28 and it sounds perfectly fine, I have both w910 and w980 and, maybe the w910 is a bit louder...but I do not feel that really.
I love my w980 more each day...never taken it out yet....
And my white w910 is also behaving very well, thank God!
