I tried google, but got no real answer to my problem.

My PC is making a pretty strong humming sound. It starts off at a low-medium volume and at a slow-average pace, but when I start using my computer it intensifies(strong sound, rapid pace).

This leads to my computer rebooting (crashing), and not starting up Windows properly. It reboots again and again after one initial reboot. I have to turn it off for 15 minutes to solve this problem.

The first thing that caught my mind was that the CPU might be overheating. The CPU fan is constantly shifting speeds. The humming sound intensifies as the fan slows down.

I really have no idea what the problem might be, but am desperate for a solution.

Thanks (a lot) in advance =)

i think your processer fan may be screwed

get a new heatsink and / or fan, and that should solve your problem

Thanks for the quick replies.

I guess I'll buy the stuff I need to replace the heatsink/fan on the weekend, seeing as the sound is coming from it. Hopefully it'll fix the problem

Get a hardware monitoring utility like hwinfo32 or Everest (etc). Then se the temperatures, fan speeds etc,see if those are normal.
