I think they should have made this a bit more beefy. When I read the specs I was expecting it to say can recharge phone xx times - turns out it's only once and then for only about 2/3 capacity (depending on how discharged it was to start with). Better off having a spare battery, then you get 100% in 30 seconds rather than 70% in 2 1/2 hours.

I tend to agree it's a bit pointless. However it would come in handy for topping up a phone when you are on the go and don't want to go to the effort of turning off, swapping battery etc.
It would be nice accessory to have, but if you didn't have a spare battery you'd be better of buying one first before buying this accessory.

The SE website says that the device is rechargeable. Does it have a fastport? Or is it charged through the visible male connector? In case of the latter, it would probably require a non-standard charger with a female charging end as the piggyback connector on standard wall chargers won't fit.

Looks like it has its own fastport. I would prefer this CPP-100 for charging my HBH-IS800. Sometimes the battery runs faster out then you expect it and after minutes the headphones are useless. A portable charger like this one would do it.
