Why is it whenever i visit places in Europe like Ireland Hungary Italy to name a few coverage is ten times better in alot of them countries compared to the UK. I have visited remote parts of Europe and had amazing coverage whereas here you struggle in cities. WHY? Is it something to do with the fact that people in this country are moaning idiots who keep objecting to masts being put up where they live. Then they ring up customer services cos they cant get reception. Seriously though i think we are a right old moaning lot here. Or is it just me LOL. But for such a small country i think coverage on most networks is still pretty poor in alot of places. I was visiting a friend in Hungary earlier this year and on H Pannon or T Mobile there its amazing coverage in remote villages.

Pretty much spot on about the moaners, they will complain more about a phone mast than someone be mugged at knife point outside there door.
That said I do not have much problem with my O2 reception here in London, or home counties, but there are some metal trees springing up at the side of motorway, thing is you can tell they are phone masts from miles off ;(

Yeah i seen them sort of masts. Thing is where i live Orange always had the most masts 7 in all. Now my brother who is with them is complaining its now worse. Maybe cos of masts taken down. I just find this phone mast thing causing illness over the top. I live near a mast and have used a phone since 1998 and there is nothing wrong with me :-Sand there are hundreds of things around us daily which cause cancer. Apparently. My reception is fine but i find places i go in the UK are very poor at times. For example in Happisburgh in Norfolk reception there was crap. But in remote parts i visited in Europe i always got great signal. Oh well.

I dont have any reception problems either on T-Mobile or O2. Very rarely lose signal. Saying that though if I go about 15 miles down the road there is a place where I cant get any uk networks but can get all the french ones.

Well i have read stories about people picking up French mobile networks in Kent. Not surprised given that in parts of Kent O2 are very poor whom im with. I travel alot you see. Im on this site on the move alot though sometimes on 1 bar. In the UK alot of people say Orange is best out in the sticks. Not sure where there is truth in that.

The problems is that in the uk more and more people are complaining about the masts what are being produced.
The uk at the moment are on a big mission to change all the masts and place more masts for 3g.
I have all the network sim cards and test them all,
I have noticed recently that orange coverage is slightly more patchy in areas where it never used to be. Vodafone has the most widest of coverage but its still patchy, o2 is more stronger and i can get it in certain places where the others dont normaly reach but the 3g coverage is poor. T-mobile coverage is still very patchy no matter where you go, but has amazing 3g coverage, infact its sometimes stronger than there 2 g coverage, 3 coverage is very good, but again still very very patchy. However its still the newest network and still building it.
Europe has very good mobile networks, however i cant say the same for the us. The us is very patchy and i know there was a questionare on the bbc recently and the us people over in the uk were amazsed that our networks are superb, always working and never drop calls.
I think another problem is that we now want more and more from the networks and the mobile phones, the aierals in the phones are getting smaller so the networks are having to create more masts which doesnt happen over night, also there are lots of criteria now of where you can place a mast. You cant put it in many places so this is why our coverage in certain areas is more patchy. However i think that the networks should work better together and utilsie what they already have and use each others masts, but i know that its not that easy.

I really have no idea what so ever what you're talking about. I've been with all the major networks apart from Vodafone (except for Pay as you Go about 8 years ago) and I've rarely ever not had a signal, unless it was a phone fault.
Bare in mind, I'm not being biased here, I've had a good strong signal with all networks in most towns and cities, and unless I'm out in the sticks, or in a thick concrete building like a supermarket or shopping centre, then I always seem to have great coverage.

Yeah i guess the US is a problem cos its such a massive place to cover. Even their cities are just so big. I have also noticed with phones getting smaller getting a signal on a Nokia phone is not always as strong as they used to be. Smaller phones smaller ariels. I was on T Mobile for 6 months and noticed their 3G is stronger than their 2G. Dont get me wrong most towns and cities are fine with all networks but just lately i find coverage to be worse in places where it used to be better and from experience networks are fab in Europe. My home country of Ireland Vodafone and O2 and Meteor are better than here. Even in the Wicklow mountains south of Dublin. Where my brother lives in Westbury Wiltshire there used to be O2 coverage now ITS GONE.

only fault I had was when I moved house my reception was awful my callers couldn't hear me..
ive noticed over the few months that alot of new masts have gone up,
theres one in our area thats so huge that residents are complaining to high heavens about it, MPs are involved to remove it etc too
