Sony Ericsson predicts lower profitability (link in Swedish)
Translation:
In a not to distant future, it is possible with the add of yet another operating system, namely Google's Android, which is based on open source code. The first version was launched yesterday - it is built by the taiwanese company HTC and is sold by the american mobile operator T-Mobil.
"I'm not saying we won't use Android, but it is certainly a potential application in future. We will evaluate it carefully", says Dick Komiyama.

So that means that SE might add this OS in the future phones? I think Sony Ericsson will win from this operation. Good luck SE.

Well after Nokia owns Symbian, I think UIQ will be dead. I'm not sure, only my opinions. But as I have heard that next X phones are meant to be UIQ, maybe the next X phone will be based on UIQ3.3 (or better).

UIQ 3.3. may be compatible with UIQ 3.0 imho. They are pretty much the same. I heard beibei was running on UIQ 3.3 (don't know if this is true or not) but if so, UIQ3.0 and 3.3. are similar... They differ in better performance of the UIQ3.3 and speed. Application support and installserver should be the same imo.

application base for the existing UIQ version is pretty appalling

Well UIQ has it's own advantages and disadvantages... it sucks once but in another way it rocks.. the reason it's dead, I think it was the switch from UIQ 2 to UIQ 3 and it's incompatibility for older apps which made the problem and everything had to be rewritten...
