Is there a list anywhere which will specify the kind of security a phone has. I am interested in knowing phones that can be locked to prevent other users from using your phone and/or prevent other users from viewing contents of certain applications. For example the SE P990i has a pin lock preventing others from using the phone. The Motorola V3 on the other hand is even better as you can lock a number of applications, or all if you choose too.

Theres a brilliant app called advance device locks that does this
it has enough paranoid levels of security to satisfy most people

you can lock any apps, messages, time locks, sim locks , menus etc etc

I know there are appplication that can be purchased to lock some phones. What i'm initiating is to build a list of all phones that have the application as standard. The best i've seen is the Motorola V3, does anyone know of something even better, or basic like the P990i and P900i, or none what-so-ever like the SE W800i, D750i, W910i and nokia 7260.

On the W910 and K800 you can set both a sim lock as well as a phone lock for start up. Meaning if the phone is off, no one can access the phone if both locks are set (the "phone lock" locks the phone to your sim card, the "sim lock" locks you sim card)

I can't remember for sure but pretty sure K750 had the same functionmality.

I think my question is related, is there some software, which means your keypad lock has a password code?

@sigea: Does an application like that exists for non-symbian Sony Ericssons?

Thanks in advance!

There is no such app as farf as I know.

Some older phones can be patched (but invalidates warranty)

Plenty of Nokias have that feature. But on Sony Ericsson, only options left are:
- patching (on older phones)
- advanced device locks on UIQ smartphones.

tbh the feature never appealed to me. I couldn't be bothered putting a password in when I start the phone, let alone everytime I go to use it

Well I never used password myself too. I have no much important information in phone so if someone see it, it doesn't matter at all..
