Woman techie ends life
DH News Service,Bangalore:
Unable to withstand alleged harassment from her bosses, a 26-year-old software engineer working for a leading mobile phone firm hanged herself at her Jayanagar residence.
The woman, M R Sony, took the extreme step two days ago, but the incident came to light only on Saturday morning after the house owner with the help of police broke open the door since there was no sign of her.
Sony, who hailed from Mysore, was working at the Nokia office on Marathahalli outer ring road. She has left behind three suicide notes running into six pages addressed to the media and the police, friends named Venkat/Sunil and to her parents and brother.
Sony has blamed managers Teja and Sachin for pushing her to the edge. Although she has not elaborated on the alleged harassments, it was clear from the notes that they were weighing heavily on her mind.
She makes a fervent plea for fighting for working women’s issues and to free them from exploitation. “I’m giving my life for a cause,” she says.
Jagadish, Sony’s father who works as manager in BSNL, wanted the guilty to be booked.
Company’s version
In a statement issued to the media, Nokia said: “The Nokia family condoles the loss of their employee Sony, and expresses its deepest sympathy and support to the bereaved family. It is a tragic and unfortunate incident. We are in touch with the family and are extending all possible support.”
“The police authorities are investigating the case. We will provide all possible help to the investigating officers,” the company said.

Correct.. could be more of an office tussle rather than a chronic Nokia problem.. maybe some immediate supervisor harassing.

Yeah and they should be more than just sacked. I once had a bullying boss and it can push you to real depressing if your not strong enough or even if you are. Not nice. Bless her.
