> K770i default messaging format

Hi, We just got a K770i (Vodafone UK) to replace a stolen K810i. One thing we can't figure out is this, it seems that the default messaging is to write a MMS style message rather than SMS. Granted if you only enter text it sends it as SMS.
The only options we seem to have are to create: Message (MMS style), Voice message, live! Postcard or email.
Is there an option somewhere just create a good old SMS like we're used to on the K810i? Or is this the norm with the K770i and Vodafone branded s/w?

It used to be possible to write an SMS and attach one of the built in "animations" and send it as a text message. If we try that now we get charged for sending a picture message.
Does anyone know if this is specific to Vodafone branded software?

I think they tried to make it easier, but really they just made it ridiculous and annoying (not to mention slow!). I'm afraid you have to put up with it like that unless you want to go through the process of debranding your phone (and voiding the warranty). I mean, it still does send text messages, and it will only send an MMS if you put any content into it that a text can't have!

I'll have to have a word and see what she wants to do with her new phone, either return it, debrand it or live with it!

Yeah that's what I think everyone finds the most annoying with the Vodafone texting interface - How they've blocked animations in texts. I don't know why they did this, but I guess that whoever made the messaging application was an idiot. I don't see any reason at all for Vodafone needing to change the texting interface apart from to make more money through MMS, and if that's the case, then it is a blatant show of greed in my opinion.
I have had Vodafone phones for the last few years and I was thoroughly glad to get rid of the annoying, restrictive Vodafone software when I recently bought my non-branded C902.

Well, the phone is now debranded (and firmware upgraded) and all working the way we want it! I'll be living off these brownie points from my good lady for weeks!!!

Only problem we've had is that the custpack I used had no settings for Vodafone internet and picture messaging. A quick call to Vodafona and they sent the settings direct to the phone. Sorted...
