> o2 contract back to pay as you go

I recently changed my pay as you go number into a contract number, i want to buy the C905 sim free and keep the same number.
Will o2/CPW let me change the contract number back to a pay as you go number?

Unless your within your 14 day cooling off period then you will be tied into the contract for the duration. You could pay O2 however many months you have left and get out of the contract that way but it maybe expensive.

In which case, rather than being an idiot and paying a fortune to buy it outright, wait until later this month until O2 get the C905 and then upgrade to an 18-month contract, change your tariff a little higher and get the C905 with it.

Whichever way I play it, the cheapest option is buy the phone from play.com (£399) and keep my simplicity SIM. I don't see why that would make me an idiot? Is there an advantage being on contract if the phone goes faulty? (Or is that only if you have the phone insured also?)

I think they were hoping the rest would follow suit, but they haven't, making us look expensive.
In time, of course, it will be cheaper.
And yes, the advantage of having a contract with the phone is that you are covered under warranty through O2 for the length of your contract, without that you have to post it to SE and pay their P&P charges etc.
And I've worked it out, depending on the tariff your on, it's cheaper to get it WITH the contract than with Simplicity.
Simplicity 600 mins 1000 texts plus free Unlimited bolt on - £20/month = £360 over 18-months
Plus the phone, £399 = £759 (or £42.16/month over 18-months)
O2 600 mins 1000 texts plus free Unlimited bolt on over 18-months - £35/month = £630 over the 18-months
Plus the phone, £99 = £729 (or £40.50/month over 18-months)
Either way, the choice is yours I suppose, depends how many minutes/texts etc you want.
Lunion: You can't just 'change' it to a pay as you go mid-contract, you have wait until the end of your contract. At which point, CPW or O2 (preferably O2, their retentions team is unbeatable) will offer you an upgrade, often with a free or discounted phone, and discounted line rental (if you ask them nicely
). Plus by which time, the C905 will be cheaper, therefore theres no point buying it sim free and going on pay as you go at the end of your contract.

I was using my simplicity deal which is 200mins 400txt + unlimited web bolt-on for £15pm (o2 upgrade deal).
My sums were also swayed by requiring the web bolt-on.
