Hi all, having a long term phone problem here! When i got my k800i to replace my k750i, it was an o2 phone so i just popped my current o2 sim into it and all was fine, including 3g, for which there was constantly an icon at the top of my screen. Anyway, one day i wanted to see if i could get rid of the icon, so i went into my settings and changed it to 'GSM data only' and obviously it turned off 3g and got rid of the icon, etc. But now i want to have 3g back, and everytime i select '3g and gsm', it spends a few seconds configuring, resetting the network, and sure enough, the 3g icon does come back, but then 1 of 2 things happens: it will either just disappear again after a few seconds, or a new icon will appear next to it, a phone with a line through it, and my status changes to 'Emerg. Calls only' - then, both icons will disappear, and the 'normal' o2 network returns. I am at a loss! It's nothing to do with my area, as the blue 3G icon was ALWAYS there wherever i went when i first got the phone. Any ideas people? Any special settings i need to use? Would be awesome if you could get this working for me! thanks

Of course when you swicth from 'GSM' to 'GSM & 3G', the phone will first search and connect to the GSM network as default. After that it will try to search for the 3g. A little waiting will do it.

Or perhaps you should go Connectivity - Mobile Networks - Select Network and from there you can search for the 3g network and select it manually.

So I need a special sim card do I?

Cos my SIM i got about 3 years ago...but when I got my K800i phone, like I said, it was an o2 phone so I just popped my current o2 sim in there and it worked fine and I had the 3G.

I haven't changed sim or anything since, the only thing I changed was the GSM option (which I now wish I hadn't!) and now the 3G won't stay enabled when I select it! Grrr!

What's this mini tutorial you mention?

Thanks

@alex-ncfc, i think that you operator has a problem with its network,... Because when the phone appear with a red barre...... This means that it's no signal...you cant make a call or connect to the net.......
Anyway ask your service provider for good informations...
