I would be truely grateful if anyone can help me with this. It's doing my head in!
Whenever I push buttons, or the key pad, my phone screen goes too dark to see anything. Originally I thought a straightforward software update was all that would be required. But having now done that, unfortunately it seems that I was wrong.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

It sounds more like a hardware problem. SE Service Centre may fix it.
