> Little Big Planet PS3 Delayed
Bookmark topic
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has confirmed to ThreePlanet that the rumors of a delay for the hugely hyped upcoming Playstation 3 game Little Big Planet are true. The music licensed for the game contains two phrases from the Qur'an, and while SCEE could have patched the game, they are choosing to reprint all the game disks instead. The game will be delayed worldwide while they correct the issue, and no release date has been issued. Sony's American branch has yet to confirm that the U.S. version will also be delayed.
Reports had surfaced that Muslim gamers had noted the inclusion of the phrases and were offended, asking Sony to remove the phrases.
What the heck?!?

They didn't take the same attitude with resistance, when that used a cathedral on PS3.
I'm sorry but this is only lyrics to a song, the lyrics are in arabic and the song has been available on itunes for a good couple of years.
I think it was the wrong plan of action. They really should have take the same attitude as they did with Resistance and carried on.

Hahahahaha, a game that's obviously going to be a huge seller should be canceled? You sir, fail.

I'm slightly disappointed, but kinda glad cause Midnight Club and LBP were meant to come out on the same day... So with LBP being delayed, I can play Midnight Club more before I focus on LBP! I know that with buying two games at once, one would have got neglected.

Well here's an update:
It's only really delayed a week. Which is ok I suppose... And here's what the controversial lyrics are:
1- In the 18th second: “كل نفس ذائقة الموت” (”kollo nafsin tha’iqatol mawt”, literally: ‘Every soul shall have the taste of death’).
2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: “كل من عليها فان” (”kollo man alaiha fan”, literally: ‘All that is on earth will perish’).
And
here's who you can blame for it all.

I was just coming to make a post about this as I know there are a few Muslims here on esato and I was hoping someone could shed some light.
I would like to know why it is offensive to have lines from the Qur'an included in a song?
I'm not going to pretend I know the first thing about Islam but I know that I certainly wouldn't be offended by hearing anything from the Bible. I wouldn't even kick up a fuss if there was blasphemy in the game...in fact I don't fuss about it ever, I just get on with life though perhaps I'm just too easy going
I don't want to be offensive and I'm certainly not racist but let's be fair here, if anyone could be offended by these two lines it would surely be people taking offense at the content of them when seen out of context like this but there are no such complaints.
I am truely interested to know from some real people why then this is offensive to Muslims and whether it is a general or minority thing?

Well I think it's great that Sony and Media Molecule have put in the effort to completely remove it through disc replacements before they even go on sale, cause it now sounds as though it's actually pretty offensive.
